170 New Students Join ESPOL’s Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

Welcome to the Faculty Where We Create the Future Through Science

There is a first day that never fades from memory. On May 6, 170 new students from the programs of Chemical Engineering, Statistics, Logistics and Transportation, and Mathematics set foot in FCNM for the very first time, carrying that unmistakable mix of excitement and nervous anticipation that only comes once.

The day began at ESPOL’s Rectorate Building, where members of the Student Association were waiting to welcome them with the faculty banner and a guest who needs no introduction: Polito, the university’s mascot. It was a reception that conveyed a simple message from the very start:

You belong here.

The new students toured spaces that will soon become part of their daily lives, including the Library, ESPOL Cultural, and the laboratories associated with their academic programs. However, what truly made the day memorable was the opportunity to connect with those who had already walked the same path. Upper-level students shared advice, experiences, and insights that only come with time and experience.

The Student Association also organized an integration session that brought together students from all four programs, fostering new connections and strengthening the sense of community within the faculty.

Dean Erwin Delgado, Ph.D., welcomed the students and shared a message of pride: gaining admission to the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) is not just another starting point—it is the result of genuine effort, perseverance, and sustained discipline. An achievement worthy of recognition.

Acting Associate Dean Eduardo Montero, M.Sc., also introduced himself and encouraged the students to embrace this new stage of their lives, with all the learning opportunities and challenges it will bring.

The incoming students also had the opportunity to meet more closely with the coordinators of their respective programs:

  • Dr. Mireya Bracamonte – Mathematics
  • Dr. Carlos Aníbal Suárez – Logistics and Transportation
  • M.Sc. María Verónica Ordóñez – Chemical Engineering
  • M.Gtr. Jessica Menéndez – Statistics

To all those beginning this journey: welcome to the faculty. The future is built starting today—and we build it together.
