Faculty members at the FCNM earn iPEER international certification

Internationally Recognized Faculty! On October 29, five professors from ESPOL’s Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (FCNM) received the International Professional Engineering Educator Registry (iPEER) certification, a distinction that recognizes their excellence and professional trajectory as engineering educators on a global scale.

The awards were presented during the ceremonial session commemorating ESPOL’s 67th anniversary, an event that brought together faculty, students, alumni, and administrative staff from across the university.

The certified faculty members were:

  • María Nela Pastuizaca, Ph.D.
  • Erick Lamilla, Ph.D.
  • Gabriel Barreto, M.Sc.
  • Diana Tinoco, Ph.D.
  • Luis Pabón, M.Sc.

The iPEER certification represents a comprehensive evaluation of a faculty member’s pedagogical, scientific, and professional competencies. It also promotes continuous growth and improvement, strengthening the quality of engineering education at ESPOL.

“The certification validates that you possess the competencies required to be an engineering educator at an international level. It is an external organization that verifies our professors meet this standard. It is not the same for me to say that I am good at something as it is for an external body to certify it,” explained Associate Dean María Nela Pastuizaca.

This certification is part of the EENTITLE Project (Ecuadorian Engineering Educators’ Capacity Development and Recognition), coordinated by ESPOL’s Center for Educational Research and Services (CISE).

We also congratulate Engineer Fernando Gaibor, an FCNM teaching specialist, who was recognized as Outstanding Arts Teaching Specialist, an achievement that reflects the commitment, professionalism, and talent of our academic community.
