Oscar Scott Macias, a graduate of the Mathematics program at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (FCNM) of ESPOL, has been admitted to the prestigious Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil, where he will pursue his postgraduate studies in Mathematics.

Oscar secured a spot at this university after taking the entrance exam and, thanks to his outstanding performance and strong letters of recommendation from his professors, he was admitted to UNICAMP. He stated that his education at ESPOL was a key foundation in his preparation for the exam, specifically highlighting the courses in Analysis, Linear Algebra, and Abstract Algebra.

“I received support from Ph.D. Jesús Aponte, as he is in charge of administering the exam in the region. Also, after conversations with Professor Ph.D. Christian Galarza, I realized this was my path,” he said.

Oscar has been involved in the business sector, where he recognized the great applicability of mathematics, which led him to consider a master’s degree in the field. He chose to pursue his graduate studies at UNICAMP due to its academic excellence, as it ranks among the top 3 universities in Latin America according to the Times Higher Education (THE) and QS Latin America University Rankings.

From the FCNM, we celebrate Oscar’s achievement, which reflects the commitment and dedication of our students, and we wish him a path filled with success.
